Please note from Monday 30 April 2012 the Housing Options Team will be operating a new drop-in service. The drop-in times will be 10am - 12pm and 2.30pm - 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

Overview of Housing Services

The Forest of Dean District Council transferred its housing stock in April 2003 following a ballot of tenants. The stock transferred to Two Rivers Housing Association, formerly Forest of Dean Housing. For further informaiton please see Stock Transfer Document.

While the Council is no longer a landlord, it retains a key strategic and enabling housing role. For further information please see Housing Strategies.

The Housing Team is split into 3 areas headed by Malcom Vine, Strategic Housing Manager. These are:

Housing Options and Choice Based Lettings

This service responds to housing need by providing advice and information about available housing options and working with households to prevent homelessness where possible. The service is also responsible for implementing Gloucestershire Homeseeker, the Countywide Choice Based Lettings Scheme and for monitoring local participation by Registered Housing Providers.

Private Sector Housing

This service monitors housing standards in the private housing sector to ensure that accommodation is well maintained to appropriate levels, is safe and a healthy place to live. The service also supports home improvements in the district to increase quality overall, contributing to the regeneration of local areas. The service also helps people to live independently in their own homes and improve home energy efficiency.

Housing Developments

This service conducts research to address local housing needs within the district. The purpose is to attract external resources and develop housing strategy and policy through partnership working.
