The Health and Safety team also run promotional initiatives to raise awareness of health and safety in the workplace and improve standards. Areas of focus have included:

Slips and Trips Campaign

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) ran a major initiative which focused on raising awareness about the financial and personal cost and causes of slip and trip accidents at work. Watch your Step aims to reduce the 11000 plus major injuries a year which are caused by slips and trips in UK workplaces. For more information click here.

The Essential Guide for Safer Newspaper Deliveries

Gloucester City Council produced a detailed guide 'The Essential Guide for Safety Newspaper Deliveries' on behalf of the Gloucestershire Health and Safety Technical Sub Committee working with Road Safety, Education Welfare, Health and Safety Executive and Gloucestershire Constabulary. The guide is written for newsagents and is intended to help address some of the problems associated with delivering newspapers. It gives brief guidance on the legal requirements and offers sensible advice on some of the problems. The Manual Handling Seminar

The health and safety team set up a series of seminars throughout the county. The aim of the seminar was to raise awareness of the risk assessment process for manual handling operations amongst the local business community.
