The planning department at the council regularly consult with the Environmental Health Officers on planning applications that may have environmental implications. Over the last year Environmental Health Officers have received 415 requests for advice on planning applications for a wide variety of development proposals where control of environmental impacts such as noise, odour, dust or light may be necessary.
In relation to the impact of noise from proposed developments, the council has produced a ‘Planning and Noise’ booklet to assist developers on this issue. The booklet acts as a guide to help developers consider the potential effects of their proposals in terms of noise, and provides guidance on what necessary acoustic information is needed to submit with the planning application to avoid unnecessary delays.
