Bulky items recycling collection service

?

The district council offers a collection service for bulky household items such as three piece suites, fridges, freezers, white goods, electrical items and many other types of household furniture.  Items that are still in good condition can be reused or refurbished.  In order for us to offer your upholstered items for reuse, please attach the fire retardant standard information to your item.  Items without this information can still be picked up but may not be suitable to be reused although they can still be broken down to recycle the component parts.

Items that are of good condition are then made available to low and limited income families through our contractor Orchard Recycling.  Anyone wishing to view items of furniture for potential purchase can visit Orchard Recycling, Unit 5, Longhope Industrial Estate, Church Road, Longhope, Gloucestershire GL17 0LB (Monday-Friday in office hours).  Alternatively, call them on 01452 830919.

Items that cannot be refurbished, reused or recycled are landfilled.

How much does it cost?

Charges for the bulky items service are:

£15.00 (for up to 3 items)

£30.00 (for 4-6 items)

To request a bulky item collection or for further information please call our team on 01594 810000.  Payment can be made by debit card over the phone or in person at our offices in Coleford.  We also accept payment by cheque or postal order.  Please be aware that once payment has been taken, we are unable to offer a refund if you then decide to cancel the collection.

What items can be picked up?

Most household items can be collected.  View the following list to see what sort of items can be picked up: Bulky waste items.

Items that weigh less than 25kgs and which are small enough to fit within a standard size dustbin can be left out for collection with your normal refuse although they will not be recycled.  Ideally, small electrical items should be taken to the local Household Recycling Centre (HRC) for recycling.  Good condition non-electrical items can be taken to local charity shops, some of which are happy to accept larger furniture items.

What items are not collected?

We do not collect certain items including fixtures and fittings (i.e. windows, doors, bathroom suites etc) or builders/garden rubble.  This service is not available for house clearance purposes.

When will my items be collected?

Items need to be booked in before 3.00pm on Friday in order to guarantee collection for the following week.  Please put items out at the kerbside.
