Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document

Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document

The Affordable Housing Supplementary Planning Document was adopted by Council on the 8th April 2010. The final adopted version of the Affordable Housing SPD (April 2010) is available below together with the Adoption Statement and Statement of Main Issues Raised (summary of representations and officer responses to public consultation carried out from 6th July 2009 to 3rd August 2009).

The intention of the SPD is to expand on the Affordable Housing policies in the Forest of Dean District Council Local Plan 2005 (Adopted, November 2005). These policies seek to secure the provision of an appropriate level, mix and size of affordable housing, including on rural exceptions sites, so that new housing developments planned in the district address the identified housing needs of all parts of the community. It provides guidance to applicants and agents preparing development proposals to ensure the affordable housing proposed meets desirable standards at an affordable price to benefit all potential future occupiers.

The Affordable Housing SPD also builds on national policy: Planning Policy Statement 3: Housing and national guidance Delivering Affordable Housing which seek to provide a balanced and fair approach to the creation of mixed and balanced communities.
