Regular physical activity in children is so important.  Forest Leisure Newent offers a range of activities for children at extremely reasonable prices. Our staff lead some, whilst the clubs and groups using the centre’s facilities provide other activities.

ALL staff employed by the Forest of Dean District Council have been subject to an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. Staff have been trained in child protection issues, we have a written child protection policy and a nominated child protection officer.

Most sports clubs in the Forest of Dean take their responsibilities seriously and follow national governing body guidelines to make sure that they are ‘child friendly’ clubs.

If your child is joining any sports club ask the following questions

• Do the coaches hold national governing body qualifications?
• Does the club have a nominated child protection officer and a written child protection policy?
• Are the club coaches and volunteers CRB checked?
• Does the club have a qualified first aider?
  

Finally, always arrange to collect your child from inside the leisure centre, don’t ask them to wait outside.

Activities on Offer

Swimming Lessons run as pre-bookable block courses during term time.  All abilities are catered for from water confidence through to the more advanced swimmer.  Swimming Crash Courses are provided during most school holidays are always popular, so early booking is advised!

Newent Otters Swimming Club provides opportunities for children after going through our swimming development programme. The club runs from the centre.  Download a copy of the Forest Leisure Newent public swimming timetable to find the Swim Club training times or ask for details at the centre's reception.  

Trampolining Lessons are popular and take place at the centre.  Please contact the reception for current availability on our courses.
