ALL staff employed by the Forest of Dean District Council have been subject to an enhanced criminal records bureau (CRB) check. Our staff have been trained in child protection issues and we have a written child protection policy and a nominated child protection officer.
Most sports clubs in the Forest of Dean take their responsibilities seriously and follow the national governing body guidelines to make sure that they are ‘child friendly’ clubs.
If your child is joining any sports club ask the following questions:
- Do the coaches hold National Governing Body qualifications?
- Does the club have a nominated child protection officer and a written child protection policy?
- Are the club coaches and volunteers CRB checked?
- Does the club have a qualified first aider?
Finally, always arrange to collect your child from inside the leisure centre, don’t ask them to wait outside.
