Regular physical activity in children is so important. Forest Leisure Coleford offers a range of great value for money activities for children.  Some sessions are lead by our qualified staff and others are
run by outside clubs and groups using the centres facilities.

Stay Safe! 

ALL staff employed by the Forest of Dean District Council have been subject to an enhanced criminal records bureau (CRB) check. Staff have been trained in child protection issues, we have a written child protection policy and a nominated child protection officer.

Most sports clubs in the Forest of Dean take their responsibilities seriously and follow national governing body guidelines to make sure that they are ‘child friendly’ clubs.

If your child is joining any sports club ask the following questions:
 

• Do the coaches hold national governing body qualifications?
• Does the club have a nominated child protection officer and a written child protection policy?
• Are the club coaches and volunteers CRB checked?
• Does the club have a qualified first aider?
• Does the club have procedures in place if your child has an accident?
  

A child friendly club would openly answer the above questions as they have a responsibility to provide a safe environment for your child.

Finally, always arrange to collect your child from inside the leisure centre, don’t ask them to wait outside.

Activities on Offer

Tennis Coaching is available on Saturdays at various times depending on ability. The coaching runs as pre-bookable block courses during term-time. All abilities are catered for from 5 years upwards.

Swimming Lessons also run as pre-bookable block courses during term time. All abilities are catered for from water confidence through to the more advanced swimmer.  Swimming Crash Courses are provided during most school holidays are always popular, so early booking is advised!

Playscheme activities are available during most school holidays.  Semi-structured play sessions, swimming and instructor led activities are all provided.

Junior Fitness Suite Membership - If you are aged 14  - 16 years old, our gym at Coleford gives you the chance to use a fitness suite with equipment and weight machines designed for use by young people.  To join come and see us, chat to one of the team and check out the kit.  If you like what you see you can book a slot for your induction there and then!  During your induction one of our fitness instructors will show you how it all the kit works and how to use the equipment safely to get the best from your workout.  After your induction you will be given the option to pay your money each time you use the fitness suite or pay monthly by direct debit, which means you can use the facility as much as you want when it’s open.  If you take out a monthly direct debit membership at the time of your induction the fee for the induction will not be charged and not only that but you will also get free swimming in our pools at Cinderford, Coleford, Lydney and Newent during public sessions.  How’s that for unbeatable value!
