Thank you for visiting the Forest of Dean District Council website. We have tried to make the site informative and easy to use for our residents, customers and visitors.
We have several means of navigation you can use to quickly find your way to the information you need:

Homepage
Our homepage gives quick access to the major areas of the site. On the left are links to groups of information relating to specific areas of interest.
You will also find quick links to the most popular services and pages.
There are also links to the site Search facility and the A to Z Service Directory.
Once past the homepage, every page has links down the left-hand side that allow you to navigate up or down through the pages within that section of the site.
At the top and bottom of every page you will find links to features such as “A – Z Service Directory”, “Council News” and “Contact Us” for example.
You can access the homepage from any page within the site by clicking on the Council logo in the image bar at the top of each page.
Breadcrumb Trail
At the top of each page, below the image bar, you will find a breadcrumb trail that looks similar to this:
You are here: Homepage > Service Areas > Business
This tells you where you are in the site and enables you to navigate back up through the trail if you wish. Every page listed in the breadcrumb trail is an active link which you can click to return to that page.
A – Z Service Directory
The A – Z Service Directory provides an alphabetical list of our services and those provided by Gloucestershire County Council.
You can find it on the homepage, beneath the breadcrumb trail. By clicking on a letter, a list of services alphabetically matching your choice will be displayed.
You can also access it from the top of every page, above the image bar.
Search
As we have a large amount of information spread across a variety of services it is sometimes not easy to find exactly what you want.
The search facility is probably the best place to start looking. It can be found at top of every page, above the image bar to the right of the page.
To enter a query, type in a few descriptive words and press “Go” for a list of relevant pages.
The search will only return pages that contain all the words you entered in your query.
You can expand the search to include pages that contain any of the words entered in your query by selecting “containing at least one” from the Find results dropdown list at the top of the page.
Quicklinks
Our Quicklinks appear on the right-hand side of the homepage and can be used for quick access to some of our online services. These include:
