The Forest of Dean District Council is leading on the regeneration of Cinderford and is working in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council, the Forestry Commission and the Homes & Communities Agency.
To date, this partnership approach has enabled the formation of the Cinderford Regeneration Board , the appointment of a Cinderford Regeneration Manager and Cinderford Regeneration Officer, the completion of a Business Plan and Community Learning Plan and several quick-win projects for the town.
You can click here for the Board's progress summary or visit the Board's page for further information.
The Cinderford Regeneration Board is currently working towards a major new development located within the town’s Northern Quarter, new quality housing for local people and a host of improvements to the town centre itself. Through its partnership work, the Board has drawn up an Area Action Plan (AAP) that will inform development at the Northern Quarter – the plans include options for a new education facility, a hotel, new homes and more.
Please see the section towards the bottom of this page for a summary of the Northern Quarter Area Action Plan or click here for further details.
Despite the economic climate, in 2011 the Board announced a £2.5 Million investment in Gloucestershire College, a further £2 Million to purchase land currently occupied by Ensor’s abattoir for much-needed affordable homes and highway improvements and an estimated £5 Million for a new road through the Northern Quarter site.
Consulting with local people on the proposals and informing them of progress made is a key part of the Board’s work and this website, along with our newsletter and regular press coverage aims to keep everybody up-to-date.
