Housing needs assessment

The Forest of Dean District Council Local Plan sets out the planning policies which will guide and control new development in the District until 2011, encouraging the economy to grow and allowing more housing to be built as part of a balanced strategy.

Housing Needs Assessment 2009

The six district councils in Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire County Council’s Supporting People Team commissioned Fordham Research in 2009 to undertake a County-wide Housing Needs Assessment. The Housing Needs Assessment 2009 updated the previous study carried out in 2004.

The Housing Needs Assessment 2009 provides a robust assessment of housing need and demand and housing support requirements, across all tenures, property sizes and client groups. This study will help underpin along with other evidence the development of our affordable housing policies in the district and will help inform strategies on the level and type of affordable housing provision in the future.

The Housing Needs Assessment 2009 updated the previous study carried out in 2004. It was undertaken in conjunction with the other five Districts in Gloucestershire and the County Council through the Supporting People service.  Both the Forest of Dean and the County Council report can be downloaded from this website, other district reports should be available on the respective local authority websites.
