Transparency
The Government has a clear commitment to greater transparency of public information. In line with the publication of salary data on other senior public servants, local authorities are expected to publish data on their senior management staff from January 2011.
The policy intention is to show:
- the salaries paid to members of the organisation’s senior management; and
- the extent of the organisation’s establishment.

The policy for the year 2013/14 is to maintain the level of pay in the same bands as the current year, these are:-
| Head of Paid Service | Strategic Director Level Band £66,675 – 74,269* pa |
| Plus £10,000 pa for covering Chief Executive duties | |
| And £ 2,000 pa for statutory Head of Paid Services role | |
| Strategic Director | Strategic Director Level Band £66,675 – 74,269* pa |
| Plus £10,000 pa for covering Chief Executive duties | |
| Group Managers | Group Manager Band 1 £51,577 - £54,129 pa |
| Group Manager Band 2 £48,387 - £50,940 pa | |
| *Appointment Committee/council decision in July 2011 to cap the total salary for Head of Paid Service and Strategic Director at their current level which is £72,229 plus the additional allowances as set out above, with the exception of any nationally agreed cost of living increases. | |
