Parkrun


The Forest of Dean District Council has embraced the National Parkrun Project and has organised a series of weekly FREE running sessions in conjunction with the Forest of Dean Athletics Club and with the support of the Forestry Commission.  The sessions are run by completely by volunteers and take place every Saturday morning, with a 9.00am start for Adults.  There is also a Junior Parkrun which is held on the last Saturday of the month and starts at 10.00am.  The Forest of Dean Parkrun takes place in the wooded Coverham Enclosure opposite the Royal Forest of Dean College, Five Acres, Coleford, Glos. GL16 7JT.  The 5km course is through a safe woodland route with no road crossings.  Click on the following link to view the location of the Forest of Dean Parkrun and the course http://www.parkrun.org.uk/forest-of-dean/Course.aspx or click here to download the Forest version of the Park Run Course Map.  The aim of the sessions is to have fun, as runners will be competing against the clock and not against each other.  Tea, Coffee and hot chocolate will be available at the finish for all those taking part and everyone is welcome to stay and chat to fellow runners.  To register for Parkrun visit www.parkrun.org.uk/Register/RegisterUK.aspx and follow the instructions.  Remember to register your home run as Forest of Dean Parkrun.  Once registered you can take part in any parkrun in the country.  To volunteer as a helper email forest-of-deanHelpers@parkrun.com.   For more information regarding Parkrun read the FAQ section on the top right hand side of the Parkrun homepage by clicking on the following link www.parkrun.org.uk/forestofdean.
