This is not about dieting - It's about a lifestyle change! The only way to successfully lose weight and keep it off is to make long-term changes to your eating habits and activity levels. Learning how to do this is a skill, just like learning how to drive and involves a ‘behavioural approach'. With this approach, weight loss is gradual but because you will have lost it by making changes that you can live with and enjoy, it will be easier to keep off.
Our weight management classes will motivate and encourage you to lose weight healthily by balancing a healthy way of eating with enjoyable activities. Healthy lifestyle advice and support is offered on an individual and group basis at these sessions.
Losing weight and becoming fitter and healthier leaves you more energetic and boosts self confidence, allowing you to wear clothes that you feel great in and allows you to do more and get more out of life.
By being overweight you could run the risk of developing any of the following:

Weight 4 Life Courses
Weight4Life is a 12 week weight management course designed to help you to lose and maintain your weight in the long term. The sessions focus on healthy eating and activity/exercise to help you to improve your health and wellbeing. If you are overweight, losing just 5% of your weight has a very positive effect on your body, helping you to reduce your risk of a host of diseases and more than that, making you feel good about yourself.
People have all manner of reasons for wanting to lose weight, whether for their health or for a special occasion such as a holiday or wedding - to get into those fab clothes again. To improve your self-esteem and confidence or even to make it easier to run around with the children or grandchildren. Whatever your reason, this course will help you to decide which are the healthier food choices to make and finding activities that YOU find enjoyable.
A different subject is covered each week, from reading food labels, planning, motivation, types of foods and many, many more. There will be a weekly weigh-in and goal setting and a different activity to try, provided by local exercise instructors who run local classes.
The class lasts for 1 1/2 hours and will run on a rolling 12 week programme, so if you miss a week you can catch up when the course restarts. Each class is £2.50 or £25 for the 12 week programme and you don't need a referral from your doctor to join.
