Weight Management

This is not about dieting - It's about a lifestyle change!  The only way to successfully lose weight and keep it off is to make long-term changes to your eating habits and activity levels. Learning how to do this is a skill, just like learning how to drive and involves a ‘behavioural approach'. With this approach, weight loss is gradual but because you will have lost it by making changes that you can live with and enjoy, it will be easier to keep off.

Our weight management classes will motivate and encourage you to lose weight healthily by balancing a healthy way of eating with enjoyable activities. Healthy lifestyle advice and support is offered on an individual and group basis at these sessions.

Losing weight and becoming fitter and healthier leaves you more energetic and boosts self confidence, allowing you to wear clothes that you feel great in and allows you to do more and get more out of life.

By being overweight you could run the risk of developing any of the following:

  • Coronary Heart Disease
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Some forms of Cancer
  • Osteo-arthritis
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Breathlessness
  • Gallstones
  • Back Pain
  • Knee and Other Joint Problems
  • High Cholesterol

KickStart Course

KickStart is our Healthy Living course. An informal group looking at healthy eating topics and incorporating a beginners circuit class. There is an opportunity to weigh and ask questions. This class is open to everyone.

These classes are held on Wednesdays 10.00am - 11.30am at Forest Leisure Lydney, Church Road, Lydney GL15 5DZ and run as a 10 week course. Please call for the next start date.

KickStart Plus+

This is a healthy living circuit class focusing on the exercise component of our Healthy Living KickStart course. The class provides an additional session of exercise to complement the KickStart course, or just as a standalone class. The class provides motivation and support - particularly useful for people wanting to lose weight and get active under the guidance of a referral instructor with a focus on goal setting, exercise and healthy lifestyle advice.

KickStart and KickStart Plus+ classes are non-referral, please call us first to reserve your place.
