Scrutiny Committee to be held in Lydney

Forest of Dean District Council’s Strategic Overview and Scrutiny Committee will meet at Lydney Town Hall on Thursday as it takes to the road to bring scrutiny of local issues to the community.
Release Date: Jul 17, 2012

Forest of Dean District Council’s Strategic Overview and Scrutiny Committee will meet at Lydney Town Hall on Thursday as it takes to the road to bring scrutiny of local issues to the community.

The committee will meet at 6pm on Thursday (19 July) in the Town Hall with all members of the public welcome to attend.

The committee is responsible for holding the council’s cabinet to account and making reports to full council on topics of local concern. It operates rather like a Select Committee in Parliament hearing evidence and carrying out independent reviews.

The agenda includes an update on Lydney Leisure Centre and the town’s Area Action Plan. A full agenda is available on the council’s website.

Chairman of the committee Cllr Philip Burford said: “We wanted to take our scrutiny committee meetings out to the community so we are going to Lydney this week. We will visit Newent for January’s meeting. Hopefully, by holding scrutiny meetings in other towns, it will make it easier for people across the district to come along.

“During this week’s meeting we will be updating the committee and members of the public on key initiatives the District Council is involved with in Lydney. We look forward to seeing members of the public there.”
