Our dedicated Community Engagement Team work to support and improve our community by connecting individuals, organisations and groups to:

  • Utilise people's skills, experiences and passions
  • Build on existing networks to bring people together
  • Offer advice and support
  • Find solutions to local needs

The experienced team can offer a wide range of advice and support on matters affecting our community, including:

  • Health and wellbeing
  • Community safety
  • Children and young people
  • Older and vulnerable people

Community group support & volunteering

We fund Forest Voluntary Action Forum (FVAF) to provide information on local volunteering opportunities and support for community groups including:

  • Volunteer recruitment
  • Training
  • Office services and equipment hire
  • Development advice
  • Delivering community projects
  • Information & networking advice

Community Transport

Forest Routes is a lottery funded community transport partnership in the Forest of Dean. Forest Routes is working to raise awareness of the four community transport providers, to promote their services and to recruit new volunteers to work with them.

Community transport providers offer reasonably priced fares and a door-to-door service for anyone needing assistance with transport. For more information:
