Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End neighbourhood plan

The Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End Neighbourhood Plan was made part of the Forest of Dean District's development plan on 1 March 2018, following the positive referendum result, where 81.6% of those who voted were in favour of the plan. The Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End Neighbourhood Plan will now be used to help decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

Previous Steps in Neighbourhood Plan Process

An area of Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End was designated as a Neighbourhood Area on 17 January 2013. 

Publication of the Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End Neighbourhood Development Plan 

West Dean Parish Council submitted their NDP to the Council on 12 April 2017. The Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End NDP and its supporting documents were available for comment during the statutory consultation period from 23 May 2017 to 4 July 2017. 

Submission to Independent Examiner

The Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End Neighbourhood Development Plan and representations received during the publication consultation were submitted to the examiner, Mr Andrew Ashcroft, on 25 July 2017.

Clarification Note

The examiner carried out an unaccompanied site visit to the Neighbourhood plan area, following this and his initial reading of the plan and representations forwarded a clarification note. This note sets out the examiners initial comments on the submitted plan. It also sets out areas where it would be helpful to have some further clarification.

Examiners report

The Examiner's report on the Neighbourhood Developmetn Plan was received on 3 October 2017. The report concluded that, subject to making the modifications recommended, the plan met the basic conditions set out in the legislation and should proceed to a neighbourhood planning referendum. The examiner’s report were considered at a meeting of the Full Council on 19th October 2017 it was agreed to make modifications to the draft plan to ensure that it met the basic conditions set out in legislation and that the NDP could proceed to referendum.

Referendum

The Referendum for the Berry Hill, Christchurch and Edge End Neighbourhood Development Plan was held on 15th February 2018.
