Coronavirus - About the Council
The Government has confirmed that elections on 7 May have been postponed due to COVID-19.
There may be a delay in processing payments by cheque over the next couple of months. Please pay online or by phone if you can.
All leisure centres in the Forest of Dean are now closed. Visit the Freedom Leisure website if you have questions about your membership, and to find out how to exercise online.
All car parking charges in car parks owned by us are suspended with immediate effect until the end of April initially.
For all current car park permit holders these will be extended for one month.
Cemeteries and funerals
We had hoped to keep our cemeteries open on a reduced hours basis. However, government regulations now require us to close the cemeteries completely, apart from when funerals and burials are taking place. We understand this may be distressing.
Restricted access will be available for funerals in line with Government guidelines.
Funerals will be limited to a maximum of 10 immediate family members which may include the following:
- spouse or partner
- parents or carers
- brothers and sisters
- children and partners
Where there are no immediate family attending then a maximum of four carers and friends may attend.
A distance of two metres is to be maintained between every household group.
