Funding for youth groups still available. Apply now!
The District Council is offering funding of up to £5,000 to promote activities specifically for young people.
The ‘Youth Activities Funding’ grants aim to support young people to make decisions and lead projects that they value.
This funding, provided by Gloucestershire County Council, helps to provide a range of activities that make a positive difference for young people living in the Forest of Dean and who are aged 11-19 and up to 25 years for young people with additional needs.
Successful applicants may be able to help cover their activity delivery costs, such as venue hire, equipment, sessional fees and staffing.
Voluntary and Community Sector organisations - small, informal groups and established youth organisations are invited to apply for ‘Youth Activities Funding’.
The total amount of funding available for 2017-18 is £45,000. You can apply for up to £500 if you are a non-constituted group and up to £5,000 if you are a constituted group.
Councillor Gareth Hughes, Member Champion for Children and Young People said: “We are delighted that last year’s Forest Youth Activities Fund supported 20 groups from all around the district to provide a range of projects. These included village youth clubs, dance sessions, art clubs, music sessions, sport activities, scouts projects, youth theatre and counselling for young people.
“We are looking forward to receiving applications for projects that deliver activities that enable young people to learn new skills and take part in lots of exciting activities.”
Terry Flemons, a Youth Worker who helps run Hartpury Village Youth Club were delighted to receive a grant last year and added: “The funding has allowed us to run a series of workshops at the club, including comedy, stage combat and creative art. The children had a fantastic time and we are extremely grateful to the Council for the grant.”
Lisa Robertson, Youth Leader and Treasurer of Ruardean Youth Club also received a grant and explained: “The Youth Activities Grant meant that we could introduce healthy eating options to the club. We’ve been teaching the children about nutrition and how to eat well. The response has been fantastic and the kids love it!”
