Armed Forces Day Flag Raising Ceremony
On Monday 19 June the Forest of Dean District Council will mark the run up to Armed Forces Day with a special flag raising ceremony.
The flag will be flown the week leading up to Armed Forces Day, which is on Saturday 24 June, except Wednesday 21 June, when we will fly the Union Flag to mark the Birthday of the Duke of Cambridge.
The ceremony will take place at the Council Offices, High Street, Coleford at 10.00am on Monday 19 June 2017. It will be led by the Chairman of the Council, Councillor Jane Horne, who we hope will be joined by representatives from the armed forces community as well as council staff and elected members.
Prior to the flag being raised at the front of the Council Offices, the Chairman will read a short statement in support of all those that serve and have served in the Armed Forces.
Councillor Jane Horne said: “The Armed Forces Day ceremony gives us at the District Council an opportunity to show our continuing support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. This includes not only currently serving troops but also their families, veterans and cadets. I hope our ceremony will highlight our support and admiration for their service past and present.”
