Independent Standards Panel vacancies
Are you interested in working with us to uphold local councillors’ standards?
We are looking for residents to join our Standards Panel made up of independent people from outside of our organisation.
As a member of the panel you will be required to carry out functions relating to ethical matters under the Localism Act 2011.
You will have a strong understanding of effective governance and an ability to work with others to ensure our Members maintain high standards in their performance and behaviours in accordance with the Member Code of Conduct.
As a member of the Standards Panel your role and functions will include:
a) To consider reports or recommendations of the Monitoring Officer following investigations into complaints and determine whether or not a breach of the Code of Conduct has occurred
b) Promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by Councillors and co-opted Members
c) Assisting the Councillors and co-opted Members to observe the Members’ Code of Conduct
d) Imposition of sanctions where a Member is found to be in breach of the Code of Conduct
e) The exercise of (a) to (c) above in relation to all Town and Parish Council Members in the district
We welcome applications from residents from within the Forest of Dean, who are not existing councillors.
The panel will meet as and when required and expenses will be covered.
