Get ready for the European Election on 23 May
Voting for the European Parliament is scheduled to take place on 23 May 2019.
Forest of Dean District Council is part of the South West Region of the UK, which will return six MEPs. The relevant Notice of Election has been published and is available now on the council’s website.
In order to be able to vote at any election, you must be included on the electoral register.
If you are not already on the register of electors, and wish to vote at this election, we must receive your application to register by midnight on Tuesday 7 May. You can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or contact the council’s elections team for a paper form.
If you are not sure whether you are on our electoral register, please telephone 01594 812692 to check. Similarly, if you are registered to vote and have recently moved, please contact us to ensure we have a record of your new address.
Poll cards will be sent out to all registered electors on 25 April 2019.
If you can’t make it to the polling station on polling day, you can choose postal or proxy voting.
If you want to apply to vote by post at the European Election, then we must receive your completed form by 5pm on Wednesday 8 May. The same deadline applies if you want to make changes to an existing postal or proxy vote arrangement.
If you would like to vote by proxy, you must return your application by 5pm on Wednesday 15 May.
