Register to vote now ready for the 2 May!
On Thursday 2 May 2019 people across the Forest of Dean will go to the polls to vote in local elections.
Forest of Dean District Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered to vote and to use their vote on polling day.
Claire Hughes, Returning Officer, Forest of Dean district said: “Only people who are registered can take part in the elections on 2 May. People living in the district will need to register to make sure that they don’t miss out on having their say on polling day.”
“If you’re already registered, you don’t need to re-register to vote. If you’ve already received a polling card or postal vote then you can be confident that you’re registered, however, if you’ve moved house recently or if you’re unsure if you’re registered you can check by calling the Council’s Elections Team on 01594 812692.”
“Registering is easy and you can apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote in just a few minutes. You’ll need your date of birth and national insurance number. Alternatively for those who would prefer you can still apply using a paper form which can be downloaded from the registration site or requested from the Elections Team on 01594 812692.”
“Anyone not yet registered to vote should do so as soon as possible as the deadline to register to vote is Friday 12 April 2019.”
