Your chance to ensure maximum Forest input into the new Local Industrial Strategy for Gloucestershire!
GFirst LEP, Gloucestershire’s Local Enterprise Partnership has recently issued a public ‘Call for Evidence’ to develop a Local Industrial strategy for the county. The deadline for responses is 31 May.
The Call for Evidence will set the direction for the future of the county’s economy, helping to inform local choices, prioritise local action and, where appropriate, providing information to influence decisions at a national level. It will guide local investment alongside funding which is granted to the Local Enterprise Partnership by central government and other national schemes.
Developing a robust and up-to-date evidence base is essential so that Gfirst can which identify the strengths and challenges within our local economy. This evidence will then be used to formulate a series of future strategic priorities for inclusion within the Local Industrial Strategy.
The Call for Evidence is open to submissions from anyone in the public, private or voluntary sectors with an interest in the Local Industrial Strategy, and submissions from businesses with specialist industry knowledge would be particularly welcomed.
Those responding will be asked to address ten questions, all of which are of relevance to the Forest of Dean District. For example, specific issues may include: barriers to economic growth and productivity; educational and skills requirements and shortages; infrastructure barriers; support required to help firms grow and innovate; specific economic problems for rural areas; availability of employment land and commercial premises; and future capacity of utility supplies – electricity, gas, water and drainage.
