Awards recognition for Publica
Staff at Publica have been praised after reaching the finals of a major awards scheme.
The business, which provides services to local communities on behalf of four local councils, including Forest of Dean, was shortlisted in the Best Service Delivery Model category of the Local Government Chronicle awards 2019.
Cllr Tim Gwilliam, Leader of Forest of Dean District Council, said,
“This is a massive vote of confidence in our staff and shows that the Publica model can deliver innovation and efficiencies across four partner councils.
“The company is developing all the time and we are already seen as a genuine alternative way of improving local services against a backdrop of long-term financial challenges.”
Established in November 2017, Publica aims to facilitate savings, create efficiencies, improve resilience and create capacity to support the drive towards service improvements and wider social and economic benefits in each locality.
It currently delivers services on behalf of Forest of Dean District Council, Cotswold District Councill, West Oxfordshire District Council, and Cheltenham Borough Council.
Together, the councils are expecting to make savings of around £5.6 million per year by 2020 and £41 million over the next 10 years.

Publica is a council-owned employment company which delivers shared services between Forest of Dean, Cotswold, and West Oxfordshire District Councils and Cheltenham Borough Council.
Publica additionally provides services to the Cheltenham Trust, Cheltenham Borough Homes and environmental services local authority company UBICO.
