Support our amazing high street businesses by shopping local
Forest of Dean District Council is working alongside local businesses to encourage residents to ‘Shop Local’ to help the local economy and Forest of Dean communities to thrive.
We are running a competition in the run-up to Christmas this year and you could win one of three prizes by shopping local and sharing on social media. There are three prizes for each of our four market towns - Cinderford, Coleford, Lydney and Newent.
- 1st prize - £100 Shop Local voucher
- 2nd prize - £50 Shop Local voucher
- 3rd prize - £25 Shop Local voucher
Winners will be able to choose which local shops they'd like to use their voucher in.
It's simple to enter. Here's what to do:
- Visit a local shop
- Take a photo or short video of you and/or your purchase
- Write a few words about why shopping local and/or your chosen shop is important to you
- Post it on social media (Facebook or Instagram) using one of the below hashtags, depending on which town you are shopping in. Feel free to tag the business too if they're on social media :)
- #ShopLocalSmallBizCinderford
- #ShopLocalSmallBizColeford
- #ShopLocalSmallBizLydney
- #ShopLocalSmallBizNewent
Terms and conditions
- Valid entries are photos shared with one of the above hashtags on Facebook and Instagram posted between 10 November 2025 and midnight on 6 December 2025. Profiles need to be public to ensure entry.
- There is no cash alternative to the prizes stated, and the prizes are not transferable. The prizes cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.
- By posting any images or videos as entries to the competition, you are agreeing that the photo or video can be used by Forest of Dean District Council and the Forest of Dean Town Councils as part of current and future promotion, online and offline.
- Forest of Dean District Council will pick their favourite entries after the closing date of 6 December 2025 and winners will be announced on the Forest of Dean District Council Facebook and Instagram accounts on Tuesday 9 December.
- Forest of Dean District Council's decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
- Entry implies acceptance into these terms and conditions. The entry instructions form part of the terms and conditions. By entering, you accept the terms and conditions.
- Forest of Dean District Council reserves the right to cancel, amend, withdraw, terminate or temporarily suspend this promotion in the event of unforeseen circumstances or technical reasons outside its control, with no liability to any entrants or third parties but will use all reasonable endeavours to avoid disappointment.
