Class descriptions

Active Balance – Strength and balance exercises for seniors, incorporating seated and standing exercises. These classes are ongoing. Active Balance Plus includes more advanced dynamic balance.

Falls Prevention (PSI) – This is a specific follow-on course from the physiotherapy service, by referral only. Exercises that improve strength, balance, and reduce falls risk. On completion people have the option to join an Active Balance group locally.

Pilates – Exercises designed for improving balance, lumbar stabilisation and flexibility. (This is mat based so you will need to be able to get up and down from the floor unaided.)

Cancer pre/rehab – Exercise can improve your stamina, strength and flexibility, and aid recovery. Improve fitness in preparation for treatment. Group exercise sessions suitable for cancer patients.

Tai Chi The gentle tai chi has its roots in tai chi and chi gung, it is straightforward and easy to do. It can be adapted so anyone can take part, standing or seated.

Move & Connect – Seated exercise session to music suitable for people with long term conditions who may not have exercised before or for some time. Aims to improve balance, strength, and coordination.

Kickstart – The class is delivered as a circuit based session and particularly useful for people wanting to manage a healthy weight and get active under the guidance of a referral instructor. Please call first to reserve your place.

Wellbeing Circuits (suitable for Cardiac and Cancer rehab) The class is a circuit format similar to that used in Phase III cardiac rehab, to improve and manage cardiovascular conditions. The class is suitable for beginners and those with long term conditions.
