Recovering after a flood

We are contacting people affected by recent flooding. Residential properties that have reported flooding will soon be provided with information on claiming financial help. To qualify your home must have been flooded and have been your primary residence at the time of the flooding.

Do not re-enter your house until all floodwater has been removed. The fire service may be able to help you with pumping floodwater out of your house once the water has stopped rising.

Contact your insurer as soon as possible after a property has been damaged. Claims staff will be able to give advice on the actions you need to take.

Please report all flood situations or incidents of actual property flooding to our flood engineering team on 01594 810000, they can record the flood for future reference and action.

For any flood damaged items you should

  • take photographs of any damage
  • keep any carpets, furniture or other goods that were removed from your home until your insurer has agreed you can get rid of them
  • arrange for bulky household items damaged by flooding can be collected free of charge. They need to be booked by calling customer services on 01594 810000.
